General Information for Your Visit
We at South Carolina OB/GYN Associates are honored that you have trusted your health -- and possibly your baby's health -- to us. To better serve your needs and those of all of our patients, we have outlined below some of our general office policies.
Please try to keep your appointments. If you must cancel, please let us know in advance. This will allow us to better serve you and our other patients. Please visit our Patient Information page for more information about scheduling and keeping appointments.
We encourage our patients to use the free garage parking available outside our office. If possible, try to park on the same floor as your appointment.
Referrals and Releases
If your insurance carrier requires a referral from your primary care physician, please make sure we receive it before coming in for your appointment.
In the case that you are changing doctor's offices, you may need to request your medical records be released. We have two forms that can be downloaded from our Patient Forms page: one requesting records be released to us and the other requesting records be released from us.
If you are new to our office and are coming from another practice, you will need to use the "Information Release TO Form." If you are moving from our practice to another physician's care, you will need to use the "Information Release FROM Form."
You may then mail or fax these completed forms to our office. Our fax numbers are 803-799-1635 or 803-771-7597.
Contacting Us with Medical Questions
If you have a medical question, your best option is to call us during regular office hours. Due to restrictions by our professional liability insurance carrier, we are not able to answer medical questions by e-mail. You may submit prescription refill requests online through our Patient Portal, which you can read more about on our Prescription Refills page.
If you have a medical question and call us after hours, you will reach our answering service. Our answering service operators are highly trained but are only able to take messages or contact the On Call physician on your behalf. The answering service operators will contact the On Call physician if you have an urgent concern and need to speak with a professional immediately. They will then call you back after 30 minutes to confirm that the On Call physician reached you. There are times when the On Call physician may be delivering a baby or helping other patients, but they will contact you as soon as they can.
