Insurance / Payment
At SC OB/GYN, we understand the costs of healthcare today can be overwhelming for many. That's why we work with our patients and most insurance companies to help make the services we provide affordable.
Our list of insurance providers we work with is subject to change. If you would like to confirm our participation with any health plan, give us a call. Below is a list of insurances we currently work with:
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Blue Choice
- Cigna / Great-West
- Coventry / WellPath
- SuperMed Network (Medical Mutual, CCP & PHS)
- United Healthcare
- State Employee Health
- Original Medicare (but very few Medicare Advantage Plans)
We do NOT accept Medicaid. Please call us for more information.
Filing Insurance Claims
If we work with your insurance carrier, we will file a claim with them for the services we provide to you. At the time of your appointment, you will be responsible for any co-payment and/or deductible that is required by your plan.
If we do NOT work with your insurance carrier, payment is required at the time of service. We will then file a claim with your insurance company on your behalf so that they may reimburse you for these services. We have found this method works best for all parties involved.
Ultimately, it is our patients' responsibility to make sure their bills are paid. If we work with your insurance company, we will automatically bill them for covered services and accept their payments as payment in full. However, you will be responsible for the cost of any services not covered by your insurance carrier.
Because each insurance plan is different, we cannot know what services are and are not covered for each and every insurance plan. As our patient, it is your responsibility to know this information before your appointment.
Patients Without Insurance
Unfortunately, we only have limited appointments for patients who are not covered by insurance. However, for those patients without insurance who are able to make an appointment, we offer a 20% discount when payment is received at the time of service.
If you have not met your full deductible amount or your insurance company requires you to pay a portion of the bill prior to a surgery or special procedure being done, then we will ask for a deposit prior to providing the service. A representative from our billing department will explain how the deposit is calculated. Then, they will help you set up a payment plan for the remaining balance due.
Obstetrical patients without insurance will be asked to pay a $700.00 deposit before your first visit. All patients are required to pay their balance of the total OB fee estimate prior to the 7th month of pregnancy. Additionally, all OB patients should contact our billing department to discuss their health insurance benefits and to set up a payment plan.
We want all of our patients to receive the healthcare they need to lead happy lives and will work with you as best we can to file insurance and create manageable payments.
